I’m currently in the process of a development test build for Me Tv This should address the following issues that have been reported since the initial stable release that was in the universe repositories…

  • Updated intltool
  • Applied Martin Pitt’s patch for duplicate ids
  • Updated include order in channels.h to allow compile in recent kernel
  • Ignoring scheduled recording check for same scheduled recording (LP: #437142)
  • Added iIGNORE_SQLITE3_THREADSAFE_CHECK to disable sqlite3_threadsafe check for Hardy compile (LP: #433996)
  • Added support for EPG in Hong Kong from Raymond Tau (LP: #477388)
  • Set timeout for EPG events to 1 second (LP: #434994)
  • Moved DB to .local/share/me-tv (LP: #486247)
  • Added schema file for GConf (LP: #460612)
  • Default channel on startup and device change is now device specific (LP: #486838)

These builds will be available on my PPA (launchpad) in the next day or two…

Me TV Development Wiki

A wiki page has been set up on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MeTV_Testing to confirm feature functionality prior to moving towards version 1.0 Your help in testing features and reporting back on the wiki page would be appreciated.  Currently version 0.10.0~beta4 has resolved most bugs that have been reported against this project, but more testing is needed…  So if you have either a USB DVB device or a PCI DVB device and are using another digital television program could I ask for you to just give Me TV a try and report any issues that you may have! (imaging that last sentence in a groveling voice!)

Me TV is available from Launchpad (for both current stable & development versions) at https://launchpad.net/me-tv

Me TV 0.9.5 Relesed & Ubuntu Karmic updated!

Today I have just released Me TV 0.9.5 this update fixes some regressions that had been noticed by people in Europe (features that aren’t available here in Australia!)  I also got confirmation today that version 0.9.4 of Me TV has been included into Ubuntu Karmic. So although not the latest release, it’s better than the out dated release that is still in Debian Sid (me-tv-0.7.16-1) the update for Debian to be updated was released a while back but has yet to make it into Sid (?) So that’s great news for the small team that is Me TV! (as I always end these blog entries with URLs) for more detail on Me TV please visit https://edge.launchpad.net/me-tv 🙂

Versions from here on in are targeted for Ubuntu Karmic. However, I’m still back porting to Jaunty. So to get yourself a copy of this application you can visit Launchpad and either download the source code or pre-compiled i386 .deb package. Or if you want to be kept up to date without the need to regularly check the launchpad site you could add the following ppa to your apt source https://launchpad.net/~me-tv-development/+archive/ppa. for the Stable release, or . for the Beta releases. The choice is yours!

Me TV 0.9.4~beta1 Released

As the last stable version has been targeted for Ubuntu Karmic, I’ve now started back porting to both Jaunty & Intrepid. I’m glad to say that the progress for the final destination is shaping up well with only a few outstanding items left to be included into the final release.  Although subtitles may not make it! (time will tell) This release fixes (correctly this time!) the bug that was wiping the settings each time you closed the application! So to grab yourself a copy please visit https://edge.launchpad.net/me-tv/+download and decide to either use the current beta or stable release. 🙂
